Simi is setting the record straight when it comes to her daughter’s nickname.
In a candid chat with VJ Adams, the singer shared that she’s not a fan of people calling her little girl “Duduke.” While the nickname comes from her 2020 hit song—released during her pregnancy—Simi clarified that “Duduke” was never meant to be a name.
“It doesn’t even mean anything,” she said with a laugh. “It’s just a sound—like a heartbeat. That’s what I was trying to express in the song. My heart was beating with love for my baby.”
She added that if the word carried a sweet meaning, she might have embraced it. But since it’s just a sound she used for rhythm, she’d rather people call her daughter by her real name.
Still, Simi isn’t holding a grudge. “I know it comes from love,” she said. “So I try not to take it personally.”
