Miyetti Allah Hails Tinubu’s Visit to Benue, Calls for Unity and Peace
The Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) has voiced support for President Bola Tinubu’s recent visit to Benue State, describing it as a much-needed step toward restoring peace in the region.
In a statement released Wednesday, the association’s National President, Alhaji Baba Othman-Ngelzarma, commended the President for what he called a bold and timely move. He said Tinubu’s call for political and traditional leaders in Benue to work together peacefully was a sign of genuine leadership.
“We’re grateful to President Tinubu for stepping in and encouraging leaders in Benue to pursue harmony among themselves,” Othman-Ngelzarma said. “It’s our hope that this visit sets the tone for real, lasting peace—not just in Benue, but across Nigeria.”
MACBAN expressed deep concern over the ongoing violence in the state and extended its sympathy to victims and families affected by the crisis. The group described the recent bloodshed and destruction as senseless and heartbreaking.
“As a national body representing Fulani cattle breeders, we stand firmly for peace and mutual respect among Nigeria’s diverse ethnic groups,” the statement added. “Our role in the economy is significant, and we understand that stability is essential for everyone’s well-being.”
Othman-Ngelzarma also encouraged local leaders—political, religious, and traditional—to stop promoting narratives that divide communities. Instead, he urged them to focus on building trust and encouraging understanding between farmers and herders.
President Tinubu arrived in Benue for a high-level stakeholder meeting aimed at addressing the root causes of violence in the region. His visit has sparked cautious optimism, and many are watching closely to see whether it will lead to real change on the ground.
