Cardi B has walked away victorious from a high-profile $24 million civil case after being accused of assault.
A Los Angeles jury dismissed claims made by Emani Ellis, who alleged that the rapper scratched her face with long nails, spat at her, and hurled insults during a 2018 altercation in Beverly Hills. At the time, Cardi was four months pregnant with her first child and heading into a medical appointment when the encounter occurred.
Ellis claimed she was attacked, but Cardi insisted she never laid a hand on her, explaining that Ellis had aggressively approached her with a phone, trying to film her. What followed, according to testimony, was a heated exchange of words before clinic staff stepped in to break things up.
The trial itself turned into a spectacle, with Cardi switching up wigs daily and trading sharp words with lawyers — moments that quickly spread across social media.
When the jury ultimately ruled in her favor, Cardi didn’t hold back on her relief:
“I swear on my deathbed, I did not touch that woman,” she said firmly after the verdict.
Still, she made it clear that patience only goes so far.
“This time I’m going to be nice,” she told reporters. “But the next person that tries a frivolous lawsuit, I will counter-sue. Don’t ever think I’ll just settle and hand out money — it’s not happening.”
The win marks yet another chapter in Cardi’s long list of headline-making court battles — and, in true Cardi fashion, she’s making sure the world knows she won’t be messed with.
